DR: Day 2 (Part 2) ~ Teleferico, Beach

Once we hit San Felipe de Puerto Plata we visited the Pico Isabel de Torres. The mountain in the pictures below is Pico Isabel de Torres, a flat top mountain that even has a botanical garden on top. It is a beautiful place to visit and although you can drive to the top, we chose to take the Teleferico. The Teleferico is the only aerial tramway in the Caribean.
Mike and I waiting for our cable car to arrive so that we could go up the mountain.
The cable car (or tram) that we would be taking up the mountain arriving back at the start.
The amazing view of the thick trees below.

A great view of San Felipe de Puerto Plata from the cable car.
Mike and I going up in the cable car.
It was a very peaceful ride. Mike is a little scared of heights and got a little nervous, mainly when I was hanging out the window to take pictures, but besides that he did great and it wasn't too bad. (He did however choose to stand in the middle of the Teleferico car). When you get close to the top of Pico Isabel de Torres, the ride gets increasingly steep as shown in the pictures below (this was exciting):
 Almost to the top:
At the top looking out at the land we just scaled. (Doesn't it look like we came straight up the mountain?)

Also located at the top of the mountain is a replica statue of the Christ the Redeemer statue located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Viewing the city and the ocean below from the top of the mountain:
One of the cable cars going up as we were going down.
Hard to tell where the sky and the ocean meet right?
About to arrive back where we started (sad) - check out the lush jungle below.
After the Teleferico we went to an all inclusive resort and played in the ocean and on the beaches. I just loved the beach beds they had along the ocean, it felt so fancy. Jen and I enjoyed looking at the stars and jumping on them (why not?).

That is such a cool view of the city!! I am with Mike, I probably would not have gone up there though, I am terrified of heights!
