Mike and I don't go out without the baby much. I have separation anxiety. Sometimes I think she could care less, but I sure notice when she's not by my side. I swapped baby-sitting with my sister and suddenly Mike and I had a night to do whatever we wanted. We weren't sure what we were going to do, but then we heard about the Vertical Horizon concert and decided that would be right up our alley.
It was at the Sandy Amphitheater. There was an amazing view of the sunset, and I think I watched the sun set just as much as I watched the band. However, either way you look at it, laying under a tree, listening to good music while watching the sunset or watching the band makes for a good night.
Mike enjoyed the sunset/city lights during the intermission:
I didn't really know who they were before this concert, but Mike played me some songs and I recognized them, so I got really excited. They were really fun to watch. The lead singer told some great stories to introduce the songs, and you could tell he loved what he did because he had a gigantic smile on his face. It literally took up like his whole face. It was great.
We had a fun night out. I am really happy that we got to go and have a date night, just the two of us.
Not long before Martin Luther King Day we decided to go to Zion National Park. Since it was short notice Alisha & Brian and the little ones couldn't come because Alisha was in charge of a baptism, and my mom and dad wanted to come but would have to leave early because my mom was throwing a shower for my cousins. Oh well - we still made the most of our time there and went on lots of hikes! It was awesome and the weather was *Perfect*. We went from Thursday to Monday night. So it was a nice 5 day/4 night semi close to home getaway.
This is the house that we stayed in:

The house had 7 bedrooms. 4 on the top floor, 1 on the main floor, and 3 on the lower floor.

It was a beautiful home and while we weren't there for very long (except to shower & sleep) we enjoyed it.
It's Friday April 27 and in Northern Utah, it's apparently the perfect date for snow.
Two days ago was the perfect date as described on the movie Miss Congeniality. "April 25 because it's not too hot and not too cold; all you need is a light jacket." (I wonder what she would say if she lived in Utah.)
Ha! I feel completely justified in taking the day to ignore the snow and lay in bed reading "Reader's Digest."
I came across some excerpts that Reader's Digest had pulled from a book of text messages between parents and children. They have a website: crazythingsparentstext.com. I haven't been there yet, but I will definitely be browsing it later. Anyway, I thought I would share the ones printed in the March 2012 Reader's Digest because I enjoyed them.
My favorite:
Me: What time are you picking me up?
Dad: Who is this?
Me: Your son.
Dad: How did you get this number?
Me: I programmed your phone, remember?
Dad: How do I delete people?
HAHAHAHA!
Anyway, here are the others, not as funny, but they should at least make you smile on this cold, snowy April day :)
Mom: Your father is driving me crazy. When are you coming home?
Me: I'm out with friends so not till late. Sorry!
Mom: It's OK. I put Ambien in his tea. He won't be annoying me much longer.
Me: Can I borrow 50 bucks?
Mom: You don't call to say hi, you didn't call on my birthday. All you ever call for is money!
Me: 40 bucks?
Mom: OK.
Me: Hey!
Dad: Aren't you supposed to be at school?
Me: Aren't you supposed to be at work?
Dad: Touche...
Me: Happy 49th, Dad! I love you so much!
Dad: It's 48! You ruined my day.
Mom: Come downstairs and talk to me please. I'm lonely.
Me: Isn't Dad there?
Mom: Yes, but I like you more.
WAIT...
I just browsed the website and found a couple more funny ones... (Some are stupid so beware.)
Dad: Dinner and a movie?
Me: Sure.
Dad: Can I put it on Facebook?
Me: Put what up?
Dad: That were going out.
Me: Um... if you feel the need to.
Mom: HI MOM!!!! How are you? I miss You Im good Love you! -Emily
Mom: Can you forward me that last text?
Mom: <3 for dinner
Me: Yes I always love dinner.
Mom: Doesn't that mean ice cream?
The awesome thing about these photos of me with my favorite animal ever, is that they were in the wild, and I am not zoomed in. Can you believe the awesomeness!? We were walking along one of the trails and I saw them off into a pasture, so I started taking some pics and then decided, what the heck, let's see how close I can get. I have like a million pictures as I progressively got closer and closer, but these are when I was as close as I got.
One of my favorite memories is that on a number of occasions I tried to zoom out, but I couldn't because I was already on the way zoomed out!
(Dad) You should definitely click on the photos to make them larger to see the detail in the photos. I love how in the last couple pictures you can see the curly hair in the deer's ears.
The big buck wasn't moving so I walked away to get capture some more photos of the doe's.
But one of the buck's I was eyeing walked over towards the other, so I followed it over again.
And then I walked right on up to it again.
I asked Mike to come get a photo of me by the deer. I had spent probably 30 minutes with them and they were letting me get a few feet away from them, literally. But when Mike came with me, it kinda spooked them and they ran away before I got too close.
So Mike left and I attempted to get close to them again.
Then I walked a little closer:
I was literally like two to three feet away from these beautiful creatures:
Then it ran away, but stopped to look back at me (I think it was half hoping i would follow):
It was such an amazing day - the hiking was good but the deer - well... they were AMAZING!
Friday night I drove down to Oak City to celebrate Oak City Days with Mike & his family.
I slept on the trampoline with Mariann Friday night. I can't remember the last night I have slept on a trampoline. We had a blast and stayed up pretty late talking and looking at the stars. For some reason the neighbors decide to start sawing down a tree at 5 am and so despite our best efforts, we didn't get to sleep in :0( Mike had gone to put Ty down a while earlier so I went to find him to say good night and we found them later like this: Saturday morning we visited and then went to the city center for lunch. They cook beef, pork and potatoes in a pit. It is so yummy! After we walked around the boothes and shopped a little bit.
Sherry bought some cake pops from her next door neighbor. They were all so cute. Owl shaped ones, cupcake shaped ones and mine was a cookie monster one! Loved it!
After that the family got ready for the mud volleyball tournament. I wasn't able to play because I had to leave for a "Sweet 16" birthday party that night, but it was fun to watch and despite getting all muddy - it is funner to play. Mike did awesome! He was definitely the MVP! He loves volleyball. I left right after their games and headed to Layton. It was a really fun day. Thanks for the good times Teagle family! :0)
