the Flight of the Butterflies

Yesterday I was able to relive one of the most memorable things I have witnessed in my life: the flight of the butterflies.

I have always referred to it as the Monarch Migration because that's really what it is. Back in 2010, when my mom and I took the trip to Mexico City to see them, I blogged about it here: (the Monarch Migration).
(That clump of leaves in the photo above is actually butterflies, not leaves.)

Yesterday I felt like I was there again.

Mike and I went to the Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake to see a couple of movies. We watched the Rocky Mountain Express and the Flight of the Butterflies. Both were great films, but when I watched the Flight of the Butterflies, I felt like I was having déjà vu! I loved that Mike was able to watch the film, and perhaps feel a little bit of what it was like to be there in real life, it may be the closest he ever gets, but it felt very accurate.

I am blogging about it because I think everyone should go watch the film! Mike said that it was one of the best 3-D movies he had ever seen! This is the trailer for it:

Seriously soooooo good! I highly, highly recommend it!

Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point

Mike and I got to visit the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point in Lehi. It was pretty interesting and fun. They had a lot of areas that would have been a blast if we had a kid, but since it was just the two of us, we skipped those parts and looked at the dinosaur skeletons.
We figured that the dinosaur skeletons that they kept out in the open were just replicas but that the skeletons behind glass must've been real. Real or not, it's always fun to see life-size dinosaur replica's and think of what it must have been like back in day when they roamed the Earth.
Mike in the middle of a Tyrannosaurus Rex (T-Rex) brawl:
Me by the Triceratops (it doesn't really look that huge now does it?):
Mike going head to head with the Triceratops (okay, skull to skull, it's lots bigger):
My favorite part of the dinosaur museum was the eggs! Maybe I am all about babies right now, maybe it was just really interesting, either way, I loved seeing all the different shapes and sizes of the dinosaur eggs.

Mike between the Aepyornis Maximus (Elephant Bird) and its egg. Can you believe that these went extinct in 1700 A.D.? Just a few hundred years more and we could have witnessed them roaming the Earth! Though a 10 foot, 1,000 pound bird could reek major havoc I suppose, it just would have been neat to see.
We had lots of fun, I can't wait to go back one day but to be able to take our own little girl to enjoy all the exhibits set up just for kids!

Easter Surprise / New Baby Announcement

For Easter we gave our family members these special hand painted Easter Eggs:
Each one had a special message, unique for each person, inside. It was the announcement of our new baby expected sometime in October. Hurray!
Supposedly everyone 'knew' what we were announcing before they cracked their eggs open.
Austin was especially thrilled that the tentative due date is his birthday!
These two were super excited to find out they'll have a new cousin to be friends with!
October seems way too far away, but we will do our best to patiently await her arrival :).

Pregnant Friends

How fun is being pregnant with your friends?

SUPER FUN!!!!

All the announcements, well except for Amanda's, came around the same time.

Amanda is due on July 2 (Girl)
Lindsey is due on September 15 (Boy)
Morgan is due on September 23 (Boy)
and I am due on October 23 (Girl)

We had one of our semi-annual girls sleepovers and decided to get some belly photos:

I forgot why I didn't put on make-up and then I remembered, I did, but then I threw-up, and it all came off. This happens every.single.time I put on make-up, so I have basically stopped.
This is how we all feel about pregnancy right now:
And the front shot of our pregnant bellies:
But we couldn't leave out Tabbi & Karina just because they aren't pregnant:
(Tracy came later and Kjersten was sadly MIA.)
Around midnight, we were all talking and laughing in the basement. Then the doorbell started ringing. Then it rang again, and again. We didn't want to answer it because who would be ringing a doorbell at midnight? Karina got a bat, and Lindsey, Karina, and I went upstairs to open the door. Nobody was there and the door which we thought had been locked, was unlocked. So we figured it was a bunch of teenagers pulling a prank but we checked every nook and cranny in the house. Then doorbell started ringing some more.
Lindsey took down the doorbell, and it continued to ring. LoL, we decided that the doorbell was malfunctioning and so I popped out the batteries. We were thrilled that it was nothing more than that.
After that adrenaline rush we ate some midnight snacks, told some more stories, migrated back upstairs for more chit chat and all in all we ended up staying up WAY TOO LATE, and we finally crashed. We had an amazing amount of food for breakfast (with 4 pregnant women what do you expect) and then we hit up a garage sale before heading home.

I love our little get-together's and can't wait for all the babies to be here this fall!

Farewell Boston

Wednesday, May 29, 2013

Our 8 day (can you believe that!?) vacation came to an end today. So we stopped the sightseeing and had an easy day of fun and friends.

The best way to start and end a vacation is with a pedicure. This was Mike and Jake's first pedicure and I don't think either one really knew what to expect or think but I believe they both liked it.
I love the foot massage. They used hot stones, which I have never had in a pedicure before. That was Mike and Kjersten's favorite part. It was so relaxing!
Finished products, minus Jake and Kjersten (they got pedicures too). Kjersten and I tried our hardest to get Mike and Jake to pick a polish color but they did not give in and remained natural.
Lunch at Harvard Square consisted of Mr. Bartley's Gourmet Burgers.
 and Frappe's.
This restaurant is a "must visit restaurant" we were told. It was yummy. I wasn't super hungry which always puts a damper on eating, but I would go back next time I am in Boston.
Mike and I decided to split a Red Velvet Frappe.
Jake and Mike both got "The Jeremy Linsanity Burger" (A pizza burger with marinara sauce & mozzarella):
Kjersten and I split "The Barack Obama Burger" (with feta cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion):
We were sad that it was time to go, but as always, it is so nice to be home and not living out of a suitcase. Farewell Boston!
