Nobody Knew It...But I'm A Groupie

Ugh. I had no idea I would be classified as a groupie. What!? My mom and dad got tickets for the Kansas, Foreigner & Styx concert earlier this summer. I had never heard of any of them before and I had no idea what songs they sang. But I went and it was absolutely AMAZING!!!! So much fun! I always love seeing people perform and it's horrible that after watching people perform I become such a fanatic about their music. I love these bands now and something I really appreciated about them was that they played instruments in addition to their singing. Grantid this made it so they couldn't dance like *N SYNC but I guess you win some and you lose some.

FOREIGNER







Without a hesitation I will say that Foreigner was my favorite. Although my dad was a fan of Styx (kept on talking about his high school days lol - i loved it) and I hear more Kansas on the radio Foreigner was just AWESOME to watch. The lead singer was ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!! He was crazy and that is what i loved so much about Chris Kirkpatrick (sigh). Anyways at one point he climbed up the poles of the stage and SCREAMED!!!! On his way back down he just hung there for a while, still cheering, and then continued to run around the stage and sing like a mad man. It was pretty intense and fun.



STYX





Without a doubt the reason why I loved Styx is because the pianist was so amazing. He was playing the piano while it spun in circles and he played backwards and he sang while he played - it was pretty fun to watch him because he was always doing something.


Overall, the concert was amazing. It was fun to see my mom and dad and Austin and spend time with Mike. It was great music and great company. Can't wait until the next time I see old men in leather!

An Elder & A Go-Kart

My little brother Jordan turned 18 in March and graduated from high school past May. The last week of August he will be attending the College of Eastern Utah and I couldn’t be more excited for him. He is so ready to take on the world. This past Sunday he was ordained an Elder in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He still seems so young to me but I know that he is growing up. He has become one of the most respectful, smart, thoughtful and strong boys I have ever met.

We had a family dinner to celebrate this big event taking place in his life. My dad was able to confer upon Jordan the keys to the higher Melchizedek Priesthood which will allow him to give blessings and heal the sick in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ. Through genealogy and church history Jordan can trace his Priesthood back to Jesus Christ who taught about the necessity of conferring this Priesthood through the laying on of hands.

I know that as prepared as Jordan is he only knows a sliver about what he now holds. As he continues to study the scriptures and lead a life full of good works he will learn and grow and all his efforts will truly be magnified as he serves our Father in Heaven. Congratulations Jordan on the amazing step you just took. We are all proud of you and look forward to watching you grow and hearing your stories.

After an amazing meal prepared by my mom and a gourmet dessert from Alisha we all stayed at my parent’s house to talk and catch up for a while. We had a blast. My dad got out our go kart and started driving Annika around the yard. She was laughing so hard. Obviously she is not old enough to drive but she just kept trying. Her little legs would not reach the pedals as hard as she tried (it was really cute). I put her on my lap and let her steer for a while out on the road which was pretty fun. I was showing her how she was driving all by herself by putting my hands up in the air and she would let go of the wheel and put her hands in the air too! I was like, “No! Annika! You are the one driving!” lol. She did really good and did not want to stop so we all took turns driving her over and over and over again.

Weber County Fair

Working in Ogden has its advantages. One of them is having the opportunity to try or do something for the first time! This year was the first time I have attended the Weber County Fair. Mike drove up from Sandy and we made a date night out of it. We had a blast. Unlike the Cache County Fair you have to pay to enter the Weber County Fair but then once you are in the gates - everything is free! (except the food of course.) It was well worth the money. They had a rodeo, a concert, a hypnotist, and tons of booths for shopping. Oh ya, and Mike's favorite part - the animals :).

We got some Hawaiian food for dinner, which was yummy; watched the rodeo, looked at the animals and got some pictures taken in between shopping. After attending the Weber County Fair I was able to go to the Logan fair for two nights in a row. I absolutely LOVE fair time no matter where I am.

My Sitcom Life

I have been very blessed with good friends throughout my life: in my own family, through middle school and high school, at CEU, my mission companions, traveling friends, at Utah State and even know.

I have 5 friends that I met at Utah State after my mission. We had two houses next door to one another, we always wished there was a tunnel leading from one house to the other house (especially in the winter) because we spent so much time with each other.

I got together with these girls a little bit ago because Kjersten is moving out to Washington DC. We took this picture at the end of the night and laughed afterwards because we thought we almost looked like the cast of a television sitcom. We have always joked that our dating lives and many adventures would make a great film something along the lines of "Friends" combined with "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" or "the Ya Ya Sisterhood." (If you only knew the stories!
